An Inner West VC – William Currey

All returning service personnel received campaign medals reflecting where and during which periods of WWI they fought. The Inner West 15000 also includes many individuals awarded medals for conspicuous gallantry, including recipients of the Military Cross, Military Medal and Distinguished Conduct Medal. One Inner West solider, William Currey, received the highest British and Commonwealth award for gallantry, the Victoria Cross, awarded for “the most conspicuous bravery or some daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice or extreme devotion to duty in the presence of the enemy.” Follow the link below to find out more about William Currey VC.
